Nigeria expands digital training through federal and state initiatives

Nigeria is implementing several initiatives to enhance digital literacy and technical expertise across different levels of society. The Federal Government has launched the Digital Training Academy (DTA), a program aimed at training up to 32,000 Nigerians in high-demand fields. The curriculum includes software development, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, machine learning, fintech, and quantum computing. The initiative is open to students, job seekers, and professionals aged 18 and older who possess a valid National Identity Number.

At the state level, the Edo State Government has initiated a Train-the-Trainer Programme through its Ministry of Education. This program focuses on equipping vocational and technical teachers with modern digital tools, competency-based teaching methods, and artificial intelligence applications. The goal is to modernize the classroom experience and ensure students acquire the practical technical skills necessary for the contemporary economy.
