Nigeria expands ICT Experience Centre programme to 15 more universities
Nigeria is expanding its Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) ICT Experience Centre programme to 15 additional tertiary institutions. The expansion was announced by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu during the commissioning of a new facility at Kwara State University (KWASU) in Malete.
Construction of the new centres is currently underway in several states, including Adamawa, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Katsina, Nasarawa, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Yobe, and Zamfara. The initiative aims to equip Nigerian youth with essential digital skills in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, and software development.
The KWASU facility, which was part of a six-institution pilot phase, features ICT laboratories, interactive digital displays, conference facilities, and exhibition spaces. TETFund has reportedly approved N1 billion for each centre across the six geopolitical zones to support training for both students and lecturers.
