Nigeria families seek justice after bandit killing and corps member death
In Zamfara State, a boy named Umar told reporters his father was murdered by suspected bandits while returning from the market. The 12‑year‑old said, “They killed my father,” and vowed to join the Nigerian Army to avenge the attack.
In Abuja, the parents of 24‑year‑old National Youth Service Corps member Abdussamad Jamiu, who was killed in his home on April 25, have pressed the army to publish the findings of its probe into alleged soldiers’ involvement. Their spokesman said the military has so far withheld the investigation report despite several meetings.
Both incidents highlight continuing insecurity in Nigeria and growing calls for accountability from the armed forces.
