Nigeria Football Federation warns NPFL referees over officiating errors

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Refereeing Development Committee has issued a formal warning to officials participating in the 2026/27 EuroMatch-NPFL season. While the committee commended several excellent performances during the first six matchdays, it noted instances of incorrect decisions, errors in judgment, and “gross misrepresentation” of the Laws of the Game 2026.

To protect the integrity of the competition and prevent match-fixing or negative tendencies, the NFF Acting General Secretary has ordered the Monitoring Committee to deploy personnel to every match center. These monitors are tasked with closely observing officiating and reporting any actions or inactions directly to the Acting General Secretary for appropriate disciplinary measures, which may include dismissal and prosecution.
