Nigeria graduates rescued Chibok girls and former Almajiri children in vocational and tech programmes

The Federal Government of Nigeria graduated 18 rescued Chibok girls in Yola, presenting each with a starter pack and a N1 million entrepreneurship grant as part of a vocational skills acquisition scheme. Minister Imaan Suleiman‑Ibrahim of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs said additional batches of rescued girls will receive similar support, and parents will be given cash and equipment to aid family livelihoods.

In Abuja, 21 former Almajiri children completed a six‑month training programme run by the Out‑of‑School Children/Almajiri‑to‑Tech Foundation. They were certified as technology technicians after learning computer repairs, robotics, drone technology and appliance maintenance. Founder Tim Akano highlighted the transformation from street begging to skilled entrepreneurship and pledged to remove all out‑of‑school children from the streets by 2031.
