Nigeria hires Tantita Security to guard Niger Delta pipelines after 2025 oil licensing round

Nigeria has completed the 2025 upstream oil licensing round run by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, which seeks to add about 500 million barrels of reserves and boost crude output by roughly 300,000 bpd within three years. Stakeholders say that achieving these targets will depend on protecting critical oil infrastructure and curbing pipeline vandalism and crude theft.

The federal government therefore retained Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd, led by High Chief Dr Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (known as Tompolo), to safeguard pipelines and other assets in the Niger Delta and to help maintain peace and stability in the region. The firm works with other security outfits to secure oil assets, a step seen as essential for turning licences into actual production.
