Nigeria Hosts CAF Delegation to Inspect Facilities for 48th General Assembly

A five‑member delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) arrived in Abuja to inspect venues proposed for the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the CAF Awards. Led by CAF Head of Safety and Security Dr Christian Emeruwa, the team examined the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, and the Transcorp Hilton Abuja, before moving to Lagos to assess the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Murtala Muhammed International Airport and the EKO Hotel & Suites.

The inspection follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval, granted after a request by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe at the Africa Summit in Nairobi, and is intended to confirm Nigeria’s readiness to host the continent’s flagship non‑competition football events. Nigeria previously hosted the CAF Congress in 1980 and 2009, and securing the 48th edition would reinforce its reputation as a leading venue for major African football gatherings.
