Nigeria Immigration Service announces passport intervention in four UK cities

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a special passport intervention exercise for Nigerians residing in the United Kingdom. Following a directive from Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, a specialized team from the NIS headquarters in Abuja has been deployed to assist with new passport applications, renewals, and the resolution of pending applications.

The exercise will be conducted across four cities in September 2026. In London and Manchester, services will run from September 7 to 19. The team will then move to Aberdeen and Cardiff from September 21 to 26. Specific venues include Layali Lounge in London, Nigerian House in Manchester, the Hilton Convention Centre in Aberdeen, and Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Applicants are required to complete their applications and make payments online via the official NIS Passport Application portal prior to attending. Required documentation includes the completed application form, payment slip, appointment slip, and a self-addressed return envelope. The NIS noted that cash payments will not be accepted at the venues.
