Nigeria Immigration Service deploys passport intervention team to UK
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is deploying a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to address application backlogs and streamline services for Nigerians in the diaspora. Directed by Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the team is scheduled to arrive on August 10, 2026.
Working in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission, the team will travel to various designated cities across the UK to conduct enrolment and processing. This initiative aims to assist first-time applicants, those with pending applications, and individuals whose passports have less than one year of validity remaining.
Applicants are required to provide completed forms and proof of payment. The NIS has advised citizens to wait for an official schedule detailing specific cities, venues, and dates before attempting to visit any location. Digital services, including the Contactless Passport Application System and home delivery, will remain operational during the intervention.
