Nigeria Immigration Service extends UK passport exercise to October 3

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has extended its special passport intervention exercise in the United Kingdom until October 3, 2026. The extension follows a surge in demand from Nigerians seeking passport services at designated centers in London and Manchester.

Originally scheduled to conclude on September 19, the extension was approved by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to provide additional capacity for the high volume of applicants. According to the NIS, 1,477 Nigerians were successfully processed and enrolled within the first four days of the exercise, with over half of those individuals already having their passports produced and dispatched.

While the service noted some challenges on the first day, it reported that the exercise is currently progressing smoothly. Applicants are required to book appointments through the official website of the High Commission of Nigeria in the UK and must present completed application forms, payment receipts, and appointment slips upon arrival.
