Nigeria Immigration Service extends UK passport intervention

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has extended its special passport intervention exercise in London and Manchester by two weeks due to high demand. Originally scheduled to end on September 19, the exercise will now continue until October 3, 2026. The extension was approved by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to increase capacity for eligible Nigerians in the United Kingdom.

During the first week of the exercise, which began on September 7, 2026, the NIS reported that 2,296 applicants were successfully enrolled across both centers. A breakdown of the figures shows 587 applicants processed in London and 1,709 in Manchester. The NIS noted that more than half of the enrolled applicants have already had their passports produced and dispatched.

NIS Comptroller-General Kemi Nandap conducted a working visit to both the London and Manchester centers to oversee service delivery and meet with the Nigerian community. Applicants are encouraged to book appointments through the High Commission of Nigeria website.
