Nigeria launches 10 million‑bag fertilizer distribution with guaranteed price scheme
The Federal Government of Nigeria flagged off the distribution of more than 10 million bags of fertilizer on 17 July 2026 in Zaria, Kaduna State. The programme, under the Renewed Hope Smallholder Support and Value Chain Fund, links 2 million smallholder farmers to Farmer Aggregation Companies and provides a guaranteed minimum price for their harvests. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari said the model aligns farmer and company interests, ensures inputs reach farms at the start of the rainy season, and includes support such as certified seed and extension services. One‑third of the beneficiaries are women, and the initiative aims to strengthen the agricultural value chain and food security in Nigeria.
