Nigeria launches agricultural training programmes in Ogun and Borno states

The Federal Government of Nigeria, together with the Ogun State Government, opened a four‑day training for Agricultural Extension Agents at the Ogun State Agricultural Development Programme office in Abeokuta. Minister of Agriculture Alh. Muhammed Nanono said the programme aims to boost food production and create jobs by building the capacity of youths and existing practitioners across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. State Commissioner for Agriculture Dr. Adeola Odedina highlighted that the training will enable farmers to receive free consultancy services from extension workers.

In Borno State, the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L‑PRES) and the state government began a business‑development and modern livestock‑farming training for 100 farmers in Maiduguri. State Coordinator Makinta Ali and national consultant Ronke Akanni said the sessions cover modern techniques, financial management and loan access to help farmers expand and sustain their enterprises. Participants, such as sheep rearer Halima Abubakar, expect the skills to grow their farms and create employment.
