Nigeria launches Digital Training Academy to boost tech skills

The Nigerian Federal Ministry of Education has launched the Digital Training Academy (DTA) to equip over 32,000 young Nigerians with high-demand technological skills. The initiative, part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, involves a commitment of over N10.5 billion to bridge the nation's digital skills gap and enhance global employability.

The academy offers a specialized curriculum in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, FinTech, Software Development, Data Science, and Quantum Computing. To ensure international standards, the program utilizes platforms like Coursera and Pluralsight, providing beneficiaries with certifications from leading global technology firms.

To support accessibility, the government has partnered with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) to provide study centers, internet access, and facilitators for learners lacking devices or connectivity. The DTA also serves as a certification pathway for participants of the 3 million Technical Talent (3MTT) program.
