Nigeria's NADF Distributes 80,640 Bags of Free Fertiliser to Smallholder Farmers

The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) launched its Farm Input Support Programme in Calabar, Cross River State, distributing 80,640 bags of fully subsidised fertiliser to 20,160 smallholder farmers across the South‑South states of Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta and Edo. The government says the targeted intervention, part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to boost yields, cut farming costs and strengthen national food security. NADF plans to reach 128,930 farmers nationwide with a total of 515,720 bags and will deploy more than 1,800 extension advisory workers to support farmers.

Separately, Senator Saliu Mustapha flagged off a N1.5 billion farm‑input distribution in Kwara State, providing 5,000 bags of NPK fertiliser, 2,500 bags of urea, 1,000 sprayers, 250 power tillers and 500 water‑pump machines to thousands of beneficiaries, including members of various farmers’ associations. Mustapha said the programme complements the federal government’s food‑security drive and urged proper use of the inputs to maximise production.
