Nigeria launches National Digital Training Academy to upskill hundreds of youths

Education Minister Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa unveiled the National Digital Training Academy (DTA) at a ceremony in Jigawa where 928 young Nigerians graduated from a World Bank‑supported digital skills programme. The academy, part of the federal 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, will deliver advanced training and internationally recognised certifications in areas such as software development, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and quantum computing, aiming to boost employability and drive economic growth under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In Lagos, the private sector Dervac HUB launched its 2026 Summer ICT Training Programme, offering intensive hands‑on instruction in digital literacy, web design, data analysis and hardware maintenance to students from schools and communities. The programme aligns with the National Digital Economy Policy and the 3MTT drive, seeking to close Nigeria’s digital skills gap and support the country’s diversification and knowledge‑based economy goals.
