Nigeria manufacturing investment led by food and beverage sector
Nigeria’s food, beverage, and tobacco industry led the manufacturing sector in 2025, attracting N375.03bn in fresh investment. This represents a 63.5 per cent increase from the N229.42bn recorded in 2024, according to data from the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria. Major contributors to this sector include Nestlé Nigeria, BUA Foods, Dangote Sugar, and Unilever Nigeria.
Total manufacturing investment for 2025 reached N1.33tn. The non-metallic products industry followed with N280.12bn, primarily driven by cement and glass manufacturing. Other notable sectors included motor vehicle assembly (N170.8bn) and chemicals and pharmaceuticals (N123.61bn). Geographically, the Lagos-Ogun corridor remains the dominant industrial hub, accounting for 87.32 per cent of total industrial investment between 2024 and 2025.
In a related development, the Coca-Cola System in Nigeria has announced plans to invest an additional $1bn over the next five years, provided there is a predictable policy environment. A socio-economic assessment by Steward Redqueen indicates that the Coca-Cola System, which includes Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited and the Nigerian Bottling Company, supports approximately 160,200 jobs across its value chain and generates $1 billion in annual value-added economic activity within the country.
