Chadian Courier Arrested in Nigeria’s Borno State Amid Operation Hadin Kai Drug Interception

Operation HADIN KAI troops intercepted a vehicle on the Maiduguri–Monguno road in Borno State and arrested 48‑year‑old Chadian national Mrs Rachael Samuel. She was found carrying seven bundles of cannabis (≈30 kg), two 10‑litre containers of hydromercuric chloride (“Suck and Die”), a carton of 48 dry‑gin bottles, 61 herbal alcoholic drinks, cash, a mobile phone and ATM cards. The recovered items, valued at millions of naira, were seized for onward hand‑over to law‑enforcement agencies. The operation, described as intelligence‑led, targets logistics networks that supply terrorist elements in the Lake Chad islands.

In a related seizure, troops of the same operation detained a suspected ISWAP logistics supplier, identified as Mohammed Goni, after routine screening uncovered a large quantity of pharmaceutical drugs lacking proper clearance. The suspect was transferred to the Military Intelligence Brigade for further investigation. Both interceptions form part of a broader crackdown aimed at disrupting drug and contraband flows that sustain insurgent groups in Nigeria’s north‑east.
