Nigeria officials commission healthcare and education projects

Vice President Kashim Shettima has commissioned the 400-bed Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital in Maiduguri, Borno State. The facility includes 13 specialist departments, a medical college, a students’ hostel, and advanced diagnostic equipment such as a 1.5-tesla MRI scanner and a 160-slice CT scanner. The hospital aims to expand specialist healthcare access and address medical manpower shortages in the North-East through training opportunities.

In addition to the hospital, Shettima inaugurated mega primary schools, including the Yerwa Practice Mega Primary School, as part of the Kashim Shettima Free Education Programme for orphans and vulnerable children.

Separately, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq reaffirmed his administration's focus on education during the 41st Convocation Ceremony of the University of Ilorin. The Governor highlighted investments in physical infrastructure, teacher training through the Kwara State University of Education, and partnerships with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund to modernize learning facilities and digital education.
