Nigeria Open Golf Tournament to return in 2027

The Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF) has announced that the Nigerian Open Golf Tournament will return in November 2027, marking the event's comeback after a 28-year hiatus. The tournament is scheduled to take place from November 16 to November 20, 2027.

NGF President Otunba Olusegun Runsewe stated that the federation has been working to reposition Nigerian golf and align it with international standards. Preparations include rebranding efforts, new insurance policies, and the adoption of the World Handicap System (WHS) to provide a unified framework for golf clubs across the country.

The tournament, which was last held in 1999, is expected to attract between 150 and 200 golfers from more than 20 countries across Africa, Europe, and other continents. The NGF is currently in discussions with the Lakowe Golf Resort in Lagos as a potential host venue for the event.
