President Bola Tinubu advances Abuja water pipeline and road projects

President Bola Tinubu inaugurated a 198‑kilometre Bwari Township water supply network in the Federal Capital Territory, linking the area to the Lower Usuma Dam. The project, described as a state‑of‑the‑art pipeline, is expected to end reliance on untreated boreholes, improve public health and create about 1,600 direct and indirect jobs. Tinubu pledged that similar water schemes will eventually cover the FCT councils of Kuje, Kwali, Gwagwalada and Abaji before his term ends.

He also flagged off the construction of the Tungan Madaki‑Zuba access road, a 7‑kilometre link to the Abuja‑Kaduna Expressway, part of a broader network intended to reduce travel time, lower transport costs and boost agricultural and security outcomes for satellite communities. The road was awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation at a cost of N27.6 billion.

At the 34th COREN Engineering Assembly, Tinubu urged tighter engineering regulation, fair enforcement and proportionate sanctions to protect lives and infrastructure, emphasizing a shift from reactive to preventive, data‑driven oversight. The administration also announced a partnership with China’s Hyway Group to develop 10,000 housing units nationwide, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda’s goal of expanding affordable housing through private investment.
