Nigeria Police Force bans recruitment of repentant terrorists and restricts officers' social media use

Deputy Inspector General of Police for the North Central Zone, Isyaku Mohammed, announced that the Nigeria Police Force will not recruit or absorb individuals who have repented for terrorist activities. Speaking in Ilorin to police officials, traditional leaders and other stakeholders, Mohammed urged community heads not to recommend such individuals for security positions and highlighted a joint border patrol initiative to curb criminal infiltration.

Inspector‑General of Police Tunji Disu issued a directive prohibiting officers from engaging in unauthorized social‑media activities while in uniform. The order bars the creation or sharing of unapproved content, commenting on official matters, disclosing operational information or using police status for personal promotion. Disu tasked senior commanders and the Force Intelligence Department with monitoring compliance and warned that supervisors will be held accountable for any disciplinary lapses.
