Nigeria police refute false bandit attack rumors in Kwara and Imo
The Kwara State Police Command dismissed reports that bandits had invaded Government Girls Secondary School in Oke‑Oyi, saying the alarm originated from a woman’s unverified claim and that no attack took place. Police Commissioner Ojo Adekimi warned that spreading unverified security information undermines public confidence and will be prosecuted.
The Imo State Police Command likewise rejected a viral video alleging a recent bandit attack, explaining that the footage is from a July 2025 incident in Arondizuogu and does not represent a new threat. Commissioner Audu Garba Bosso urged residents to ignore the false video, which he described as deliberately designed to create fear, and reiterated the police’s commitment to protect lives and property.
