Nigeria prepares for school resumption on September 14
Nigerian educational institutions are set to resume academic activities for the new session on Monday, September 14, 2026. The Federal Government has assured stakeholders that necessary arrangements are in place to ensure a safe and seamless commencement for all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
Minister of Education Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa stated that security agencies have been informed and are maintaining heightened vigilance around school environments to safeguard students and staff. He urged parents to rely on official information and called for close coordination between school authorities and security agencies.
In Ekiti State, public and private schools are also scheduled to resume on the same date for the first term of the 2026/2027 academic session. The state's Commissioner for Education, Dr. Olabimpe Aderiye, confirmed the term will run for 13 weeks, ending on December 11, 2026, while emphasizing ongoing policies to improve teaching and learning quality.
