Nigeria prepares to host 2026 World Public Relations Forum

Nigeria is preparing to host the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) and the 37th African Public Relations Association (APRA) Conference in Abuja from November 15 to 21, 2026. Dr. Ike Neliaku, President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), has undertaken diplomatic engagements in Nairobi to strengthen continental collaboration for the event.

Kenya’s Minister of Information, Communications and Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo Gitau, has confirmed Kenya’s full participation in the forum. Gitau described the WPRF as an African project requiring a collaborative continental approach to promote Africa’s potential. During the meetings, NIPR leadership also engaged with the Media Council of Kenya to mobilize regional media and press council officials.

The 2026 forum is expected to feature several unique initiatives, including the inauguration of the world’s first University of Public Relations and Leadership, as well as cultural components such as the Nigeria Jollof Rice Festival and Akara Festival. Additionally, Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, plans to host an African Ministers of Information Roundtable to address information management and responsible communication challenges on the continent.
