Nigeria hosting 2026 World Public Relations Forum

Overview

Nigeria is preparing to host the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) and the 37th African Public Relations Association (APRA) Conference in Abuja, scheduled for November 15 to 22, 2026. This event marks the first time the Global Alliance–WPRF will host its global event in Africa.

Diplomatic efforts to ensure regional participation have progressed, with Kenya’s Minister of Information, Communications and Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo Gitau, confirming Kenya’s full participation. Gitau described the WPRF as an “African project requiring a collaborative continental approach to promote Africa’s potential.” NIPR leadership has also engaged with the Media Council of Kenya to mobilize regional media officials.

The forum is expected to feature the inauguration of the world’s first University of Public Relations and Leadership, an African Ministers of Information Roundtable, and cultural components such as the Nigeria Jollof Rice Festival and Akara Festival. Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, who hosted Global Alliance CEO Prof. Justin Green, noted the forum offers an opportunity to “change global narratives and address misconceptions about the country.” Abbas is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Parliamentary Democracy Day and open an exhibition pavilion on the National Assembly’s legislative history.

As the event approaches, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has begun mobilizing the hospitality sector, holding conferences for hotel executives to strengthen service standards for delegates from over 126 countries. Additionally, discussions at the 11th Nigeria Digital Public Relations Summit in Lagos highlighted the use of digital storytelling to promote a positive national image and preserve African cultural heritage.
