Nigeria President Tinubu Approves Recruitment of 3,252 PTA Teachers

President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 3,252 verified Parent‑Teacher Association (PTA) teachers into the Federal Civil Service. The move, announced by Education Minister Dr. Maruf Alausa, follows a verification exercise by an inter‑ministerial committee that cleared the teachers for regularisation as Education Officers, Assistant Education Officers and Technical Instructors. The recruitment targets staff serving in Federal Unity Colleges and Federal Technical Colleges, aiming to improve teacher‑student ratios, preserve experienced manpower and strengthen classroom instruction. Alausa described the approval as a key intervention under the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and said the ministry will complete the remaining statutory processes. The announcement also outlined broader education reforms, including a forthcoming National Textbook Ranking System that will require public schools to use nationally approved textbooks from September 2026.
