Nigeria Launches National Health Technology and Data Analytics Office (NHTDAO)
President Bola Tinubu has approved the creation of the National Health Technology and Data Analytics Office (NHTDAO) and named Dr Obi Adigwe, director‑general of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development, as its first National Coordinator. The agency will be housed in the Office of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare and will serve as a meta‑level platform to coordinate the country’s digital‑health agenda, reinforce existing statutory health bodies, and harmonise public‑private collaboration.
The NHTDAO will operationalise the National Digital Health Architecture approved in November 2025 and is overseen by an 18‑member steering committee co‑chaired by Professor Muhammad Ali Pate and Nigerian Economic Summit Group chairman Olaniyi Yusuf, with representation from key ministries, agencies and state health commissioners. The President expects the office to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to a secure, interoperable and data‑driven health system, supporting the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.
