Nigeria President Tinubu pledges international help to rescue Oyo school abduction victims
President Bola Tinubu, speaking through SGF Senator George Akume at the commissioning of the remodelled Premier Hotel in Ibadan, announced that the Federal Government is deploying every realistic measure – including collaboration with international partners – to secure the safe release of the 47 teachers and students abducted from Yawota and Ahoro Esienle communities in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State.
He reaffirmed recent investments in intelligence gathering, inter‑agency coordination, technological surveillance and proposed policing reforms aimed at tackling banditry, kidnapping and other violent crime across Nigeria. Tinubu called on citizens, traditional and faith‑based leaders to remain vigilant, share credible intelligence and support community‑based security initiatives. The president stressed that peace and security are essential for economic development and that the government will continue to pursue all avenues to bring the victims home safely.
