Nigeria President Tinubu Urged to Investigate Multi‑Billion Naira Police and State Assembly Corruption
A civic organisation, the Ondo State Concerned Youth for Good Governance, has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Speaker Olamide Oladiji, Deputy Speaker Ololade Gbegudu and Clerk Benjamin Jayeola of the Ondo State House of Assembly. The petition alleges that the trio forged a House resolution to amend the N70 billion 2025 budget of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) without proper plenary approval, diverting public funds.
Separately, the Socio‑Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has written to President Bola Tinubu, demanding a comprehensive probe into claims that more than N6.79 billion was misapplied within the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Ministry of Police Affairs, and that firearms and ammunition are missing. SERAP called on the Attorney General, the Minister of Justice, the Inspector‑General of Police and anti‑corruption agencies to act within seven days.
