Nigeria pushes NPFL reforms as Ghana confirms 18 clubs for 2026/27 season

Director General of Nigeria's National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, warned that the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League will start even if only five clubs meet the Commission's new reform standards, stressing that clubs failing to comply must step aside.

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed the 18 clubs that will compete in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League, including three newly promoted sides—Port City, Ashantigold ’04 and Debibi United—joining 15 returning clubs. The season is scheduled to begin around the weekend of September 4‑7, 2026.
