Nigeria pushes women empowerment and political participation under new government agenda

Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman‑Ibrahim announced that Nigeria has entered an “era of limitless possibilities” for women, linking economic empowerment, social protection and family support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. During a courtesy visit she met Police Officers’ Wives Association chief Olufunmilola Mutiat Disu, praised the POWA CARES initiatives and called for stronger collaboration to deliver measurable outcomes for women, children and families.

At a national convention organized by the Nigerian Women of Integrity Per Excellence Paragon Association, gender advocate Hajiya Hadiza Abdullahi urged Nigerian women to take active roles in politics, arguing that sustainable national development depends on their participation in governance and policy‑making. Grand Patron Dr Damilola Fetuga echoed the call, urging women to step out of comfort zones and urging governments to create an enabling environment for women’s political engagement.
