Nigeria U19 Women's Cricket Team qualifies for T20 World Cup

Nigeria’s U19 women’s cricket team has qualified for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027 after defeating Zimbabwe by four runs in the Africa Qualifier Division 1 final in Tanzania.

After electing to bat first, Nigeria posted a total of 98 runs for six. Captain Christabel Chukwuonye led the scoring with 21 runs, supported by Beauty Oguai with 19 and Jessica Bieni with 15. In response, Zimbabwe was bowled out for 94 in 19.5 overs. Peace Usen was the standout bowler for Nigeria, taking three wickets for 19 runs, while Jennifer Godwin contributed two wickets.

Nigeria remained undefeated throughout the qualifying tournament, securing Africa’s sole qualification spot for the upcoming global tournament, which is scheduled to be co-hosted by Bangladesh and Nepal.
