Nigeria Restates Commitment to IMF Partnership

At a farewell dinner in Abuja for outgoing IMF Resident Representative Dr. Christian Ebeke, Nigeria’s Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the International Monetary Fund. Oyedele highlighted that the three‑year IMF tenure coincided with major fiscal, revenue‑mobilisation, public‑debt and foreign‑exchange reforms aimed at restoring macro‑economic stability, strengthening public finances, boosting investor confidence and laying the groundwork for sustainable growth. The minister praised Ebeke’s professionalism, humility and collaborative approach, noting that the technical support provided by the IMF will continue to guide Nigeria’s reform agenda.

The statement signed by the Federal Ministry of Finance underscored that the relationships built during Ebeke’s assignment will be leveraged to sustain cooperation between the federal government and the IMF as Nigeria pursues its economic reform programme.
