Nigeria seeks investment to unlock 215 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves
The Nigerian Federal Government is seeking increased infrastructure, capital, and regulatory stability to unlock the value of its estimated 215 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, noted that gas reserves lack utility without the ability to transform them into electricity, industrial feedstock, and export revenue. To address this, the government is prioritizing critical infrastructure projects, such as the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) and OB3 gas pipelines, to connect supply with major demand centers.
Through the ‘Decade of Gas Initiative’ and reforms under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021, the government aims to use gas as a catalyst for industrialization, manufacturing, and power generation while improving the investment climate for developers.
