Nigeria Super Falcons hand kits to 150 grassroots teams and set up WAFCON quarter‑final clash with Cameroon

After winning the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Nigeria’s Super Falcons launched a “Mission X” legacy project, distributing training kits and basic equipment – balls, cones and bibs – to about 150 grassroots female football teams across the country. Players Rasheedat Ajibade and Halimatu Ayinde said the gesture was meant to inspire the next generation, stating, “Going into the WAFCON 2025, we, the Super Falcons of Nigeria, came together with a goal to use our victory to inspire the next generation… We distributed training kits and essential equipment, things like balls, cones and bibs, just the basic things they need to chase their dreams.”

The team then secured a place in the 2026 tournament knockout stage with a 6‑2 win over Egypt, goals coming from Asisat Oshoala, Christy Ucheibe, Rasheedat Ajibade, Gift Monday, Uchenna Kanu and Joy Omewa. Their second‑place group finish sets up a quarter‑final clash with Cameroon on 9 August at Casablanca’s Larbi Zaouli Stadium, with the winner earning an automatic ticket to the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
