Nigeria targets 3 million barrels of crude oil per day by 2030
Nigeria is aiming to reach a crude oil production target of 3 million barrels per day (mbpd) by 2030, according to objectives set by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd). The company also seeks to achieve 12 billion standard cubic feet of natural gas per day by the same year, with an interim goal of 2 mbpd by 2027.
Experts from Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) emphasize that achieving these targets depends heavily on the integration and cooperation of host communities along the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) and the Eastern Gas Network (EGN). PINL officials noted that the stability of pipeline networks is essential for the industry's renewed growth.
Recent production data shows Nigeria's crude oil and condensate production averaged 1.717 million barrels per day in September, a 2.34% increase from August. Major contributors include the Forcados and Bonny Light terminals, which together accounted for approximately 38.3% of the monthly average. Additionally, the newly introduced Cawthorne blend has seen a significant increase in production since the beginning of the year.
