Nigeria to repatriate 65 nationals from South Africa
The Nigerian Federal Government has announced that 65 Nigerian nationals are scheduled to return from South Africa on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. The group is expected to depart from Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg at 3:30 p.m. local time via South African Airways, arriving at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at 8:45 p.m. the same day.
This repatriation effort follows recent reports of discrimination and anti-foreigner attacks targeting African migrants in parts of South Africa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the return of these individuals is being sponsored by private individuals rather than through government funding. This follows a similar repatriation last week involving 83 Nigerians, which was also facilitated by private financial support.
