Nigeria Transparency Index ranks NIPC and Kaduna State as leaders

The 2026 Transparency and Integrity Index (TII) has identified the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) and the Kaduna State Government as leaders in institutional accountability. The NIPC was ranked as the most transparent federal institution with a score of 84.14 per cent, while Kaduna State led among state governments with 54.68 per cent.

Other notable rankings include the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in second place and the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) in third. The report, released by the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity (CeFTPI), highlighted a significant performance gap, noting that many institutions scored below 20 per cent.

Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to use these findings to drive concrete operational improvements. He emphasized that transparency should be treated as an institutional asset, calling for the integration of index indicators into strategic planning, procurement, and digital disclosure to strengthen public trust.
