Nigerian security forces arrest arms traffickers and rescue kidnap victims

The Nigerian Army has conducted several operations resulting in the arrest of suspected arms traffickers and the rescue of kidnap victims across multiple states.

In Zamfara State, troops from the 1 Brigade intercepted a vehicle on the Kauran Namoda–Shinkafi Road, arresting three suspects: Lukman Sulaiman, Nafiu Isa, and Adamu Lawali. An AK-103-2 rifle and ammunition were recovered after being found concealed inside a bag of millet. In a separate incident in the same state, soldiers at Forward Operating Base Anka rescued six people following a terrorist ambush on a vehicle along the Anka–Gummi route.

In Kogi State, troops rescued a 28-year-old man who had been abducted from the Federal Capital Territory five weeks prior. During the operation, suspected kidnappers fled, abandoning an AK-47 rifle.

In Osun State, police reported that suspected hoodlums attacked a patrol team on the Ibadan-Ife Expressway. The assailants killed two civilians, injured two officers, and stole an AK-47 service rifle and a patrol vehicle. Meanwhile, in Sokoto, Major General Bemgba Paul Koughna addressed officers during a combat proficiency competition, emphasizing the necessity of physical and mental fitness for combat readiness.
