Nigerian Army Chief Waidi Shaibu Urges New Recruits to Fight Terrorists
Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, addressed the graduating soldiers of the 90 Regular Recruit Intake during a passing‑out parade at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State. He urged the new troops to be ruthless in confronting terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements threatening national security, while strictly adhering to the Rules of Engagement, the Law of Armed Conflict and respect for human rights.
Shaibu highlighted the importance of professionalism, discipline and operational excellence, warning recruits against unprofessional conduct on social media that could compromise security. He noted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued support for strengthening the armed forces and outlined ongoing investments in advanced combat enablers under the Restore Hope initiative to bolster the army’s capability against the country’s asymmetric threats.
