Nigerian Army deploys troops to Plateau and Kebbi states
The Nigerian Army has launched new military deployments in Plateau and Kebbi states to combat persistent security threats, including communal clashes, banditry, and criminal attacks.
In Plateau State, the 236 Tank Battalion has deployed 236 personnel to Headquarters Sector 8 under Operation Enduring Peace. This move aims to reinforce security in volatile rural settlements and improve response times to distress calls in areas frequently affected by farmer-herder conflicts and localized criminal gangs.
In Kebbi State, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has operationalized the 28 Armoured Brigade and Garrison in Birnin Kebbi. This deployment includes the 281 Tank Battalion in Yauri and the 381 Artillery Regiment in Kaoje. The expansion of the military footprint is intended to optimize force structure and provide enhanced fire support capabilities to address threats from criminal elements in the North-West region.
