Nigerian Army expands security presence in Oyo and Nasarawa

The Nigerian Army is expanding its infrastructure and operational presence to enhance national security. In Nasarawa State, the 4 Special Forces Command has commissioned a newly renovated Garrison Headquarters at the Nigerian Army Cantonment in Doma. Major General Olurotimi Awolo stated the project aims to improve administrative efficiency and personnel welfare.

Additionally, the Nigerian Army has approved four new military formations in Oyo State to combat banditry and kidnapping. Governor Seyi Makinde announced that these formations—comprising a brigade and battalion in Oyo town, an infantry battalion in Kishi, an artillery regiment battalion in Iseyin, and another battalion in Oriire—are strategically located to reduce response times and bring military capabilities closer to local communities.
