Nigerian military rescues 363 captives in nationwide operations

The Nigerian military has conducted a series of successful nationwide operations over the past week, resulting in the rescue of 363 captives and the arrest of numerous suspects, including terrorists, informants, and logistics suppliers.

In Zamfara State, Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully rescued 33 passengers who had been abducted by terrorists in the Tsafe Local Government Area. The rescue occurred after troops engaged the attackers, forcing them to flee into nearby bushes. Additionally, in Zamfara, troops neutralized an improvised explosive device (IED) near Jabanda village and intercepted a suspected terrorist collaborator, Lawali Dan Alo, who was found in possession of over N5.3 million in cash.

Other significant actions included Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD rescuing 308 individuals from Kainji Lake National Park in Niger State. In the North-East, Operation HADIN KAI rescued 35 victims and foiled an attempted abduction in Borno State. The military also reported the destruction of illegal oil refining facilities and the recovery of various weapons and ammunition during these operations.
