Nigerian Army names new cyber warfare chief and urges paratroopers to apply specialised skills

The Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command appointed Emmanuel Soledayo Mustapha as its ninth commander in a formal hand‑over ceremony at the headquarters in Giri, Abuja. Mustapha succeeded Kennedy Osemwengie and highlighted the growing importance of cyberspace, pledging to further strengthen the army's digital defence capabilities and strategic partnerships.

Separately, Infantry Corps Commander Godwin Michael Mutkut addressed newly qualified paratroopers at the graduation ceremony for several airborne and rigger courses at the Jaji Drop Zone. He urged the graduates to apply their specialised training, maintain professional standards and pursue further education to enhance operational effectiveness. The event also recognised participants of an armoured personnel carrier driving and maintenance course.

Both ceremonies underscore the Nigerian military's focus on modernising its cyber and airborne capacities.
