Nigerian troops kill Lakurawa militants in Kebri and foil yam market attack in Benue
On June 27, troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma in Kebbi State ambushed and killed two suspected Lakurawa terrorists in the Sabarumawa area. The soldiers recovered two AK‑47 rifles, magazines, 143 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle after a fierce gun battle, according to Lt.‑Col. Aliyu Danja.
In a separate operation, Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke, together with the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, stopped an attempted assault on the Tor Donga Yam Market in Benue State. Two suspects, identified as Dantaraba and Golozo, were neutralised and weapons including an AK‑47 rifle, pistol, ammunition and two ATM cards were seized. Security officials said the swift response prevented disruption of market activities and allowed traders to continue their business safely.
