The Nigerian Army announced a series of anti‑kidnapping operations that rescued dozens of abductees across the country. In a 24‑hour period troops recovered 34 kidnapping victims in Borno, Zamfara, Kogi, Delta and Imo, arrested a suspected ISWAP informant and seized weapons and ammunition. In Edo State, soldiers of the 4 Brigade rescued 14 victims along the Lagos‑Benin Expressway on July 30‑31, 2026; the kidnappers abandoned 11 of them and fled into a forest before a follow‑up clearance operation recovered the remaining three. All rescued persons were medically assessed and found to be in stable condition.

Separately, a joint force from the 82 Division Garrison, 103 Battalion, the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service and the 197 Special Forces Battalion rescued Lt. Col. Ofor Amobi and civilian Ikechukwu Onwuanra after a ten‑day search in Enugu State. The victims were found at the edge of a forest in Inyi community, the civilian with a gunshot wound, and both were taken to the 82 Division Medical Hospital for treatment. The operation was credited to sustained pressure on the kidnappers, which forced them to abandon the captives.

The army emphasized that the operations demonstrate its operational readiness, intelligence‑driven approach and commitment to protecting lives, while a manhunt for the fleeing kidnappers continues.
