Nigerian Army rescues nine kidnap victims in Kogi State

The Nigerian Army has rescued nine individuals following a kidnapping attempt on the Ajaokuta–Itobe Road in Kogi State. Troops from the Itobe Patrol Base responded to reports of an attack on travelers, discovering two abandoned vehicles, a Toyota Hiace bus and a Toyota Sienna, at the scene.

During a pursuit toward the Adumu Community in Dekina Local Government Area, military personnel engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun battle. The exchange of fire compelled the attackers to release the captives before they retreated into nearby vegetation. The rescued group included two elderly men, two elderly women, four adult males, and one infant. The victims have been transferred to the Nigeria Police at the Itobe Area Command for processing and reunification with their families. Military operations continue to search for additional victims and apprehend the suspects.
