Nigerian Bar Association probes ₦100m Imo State gift
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has established a three-member committee to investigate allegations of impropriety regarding a ₦100 million gift from the Imo State Government to the NBA Owerri Branch. The investigation focuses on the receipt, management, and disbursement of these funds.
NBA President Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, announced that the committee—consisting of General Secretary Afam Okeke, Third Vice-President Iniobong Irene Pepple, and Treasurer Esther Jimoh—will examine financial records and receive representations from involved parties. The committee is expected to submit its findings and recommendations by October 30, 2026.
The probe follows concerns raised by branch members and a requisition signed by 183 members for an Extraordinary General Meeting. Badejo-Okusanya confirmed that the meeting scheduled for October 15, 2026, will proceed as planned, with committee members attending to observe proceedings and ensure order.
