Nigerian Bottling Company marks 75 years with $1 billion investment pledge

The Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), a member of the Coca-Cola HBC Group, has celebrated 75 years of operations in Nigeria. To mark the anniversary, Coca-Cola HBC reaffirmed its commitment to invest up to $1 billion in the country over the next five years.

During a gala in Abuja, Senator George Akume, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praised the company for its role in developing local talent and strengthening domestic supply chains. Since its inception in Ebute Metta in 1951, NBC has grown to include eight plants, 11 depots, and 52 commercial territories across the nation.

A recent economic impact study by Steward Redqueen indicates that the Coca-Cola system generated approximately $1 billion in value-added economic activity across its Nigerian value chain in 2024. The study also noted that the system supported more than 160,000 jobs, with nearly 3,000 being direct positions and the remainder linked to sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and retail. Additionally, the company sourced approximately $601 million in goods and services from Nigerian suppliers during the same period.
